    We are passionate about the outdoors, independence, and education. We’re constantly looking for ways to combine these passions in ways that benefit us and our community. Night Owl Defense represents our best effort at doing just that. We can guarantee a fun and most importantly SAFE environment to learn in.

Meet the Night Owl Team

 

James Thompson

Instructor and Founder

He started Night Owl Defense (NOD) in an effort to find a way to combine all of his passions. The seed was planted when he led his first firemaking workshops for Refuge Outdoors Festival 2019. Since then he has sought ways to make all of his passions intersect. NOD is that way.

Raised in the Midwest. Currently living in the Northwest. James’ goal is to spend as much time as he can outside learning and sharing knowledge. He’s here to create spaces for those that, like him, are passionate about nature, independence, self-defense, and safety.

Aramis Hamer

Co-Instructor

Aramis too, is a child of the Midwest. She’s an artist, outdoorswoman, and support instructor in all NOD classes.
